According to Jaguar Racing driver Pedro de la Rosa, Formula One badly needs a return to the days when Prost and Senna were duelling it out for victory despite being in the same team. The spectacle of a rigged Ferrari procession is, according to the Spaniard, damaging the sport.

"The one thing I would do is ban team orders straight away," says Pedro. "It's hard because how can you police it? But we can try. What happened between Ralf and Montoya at Indy was fantastic. It proved that the guys are fighting."

Pedro also suggests that another way of making Formula One more attractive is to limit the amount of downforce a car is able to produce.

"We should make the wings smaller and have some standard parts like a standard floor, maybe standard wings, and then it's down to the teams to get more downforce from the bodywork. This will reduce a lot of the differences between the teams. Formula One has always been a technological sport, and you cannot get away from that. But there has to be a better balance."
