Bahrain glows papaya orange as McLaren seal 2025 F1 constructors' title

Bahrain glowed papaya orange in celebration of McLaren clinching the 2025 constructors’ championship at the Singapore Grand Prix. 

McLaren became unbeatable this season after Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri finished the race at the Marina Bay Street Circuit in third and fourth, respectively. 

Bahrain’s Mumtalakat and Abu Dhabi’s CYVN Holdings took full ownership of McLaren Racing in September 2025 after buying out US investment group MSP Sports Capital’s 33% share. At the time of MSP Capital’s investment five years ago, McLaren Racing was valued at £560million and the latest transaction values the racing arm of the company at approximately £3.5billion.

"It's a great day for McLaren. It has been an amazing quest to get back to where we are,” McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown told BBC Sport in September.

"It wasn't long ago our business was extremely challenged and we weren't competitive. So, five years later, this underlines the success F1 is having in the cost-cap era and has enabled us to be competitive. It's great to have McLaren back at the front again and great to have a simplified ownership structure."

With six grands prix and three sprint races remaining in the 2025 season, McLaren has amassed an unassailable 650 points. But while the Woking outfit has swiftly wrapped up the constructors’ title, the fight for the drivers’ championship is heating up between Piastri and Norris.

22 points separate the two drivers after the Singapore Grand Prix and four-time champion Max Verstappen, who currently sits third, cannot be counted out of the battle yet.

“For the second year in a row, McLaren are the constructors’ champions, an incredible feeling to end a very competitive weekend in Singapore!" team principal Andrea Stella explained after the race. "Last year, it went all the way to the final lap of the final race, so to be able to secure the title with six races to go in the 2025 season is an unbelievable effort from the entire team.

“Our race pace was strong today against our closest competitors, although it was hard to take advantage in the dirty air. Both Lando and Oscar demonstrated their exceptional talent to secure an important result for the team, as we’ve seen on many occasions this season.

“Thank you to everyone in the team, both trackside and in Woking, for their incredible effort. We can all be very proud of this achievement, the first back-to-back constructors’ championship for McLaren since 1991. Thank you to our PU supplier HPP, our valuable technical and commercial partners and of course, our loyal papaya fans.

"It’s great that our teamwork is rewarded like this, but we must enjoy the moment this evening and then turn our attention to preparing for a competitive challenge in the final six races of the season.”
