Analysis: How Hamilton dealt the final blow to Vettel
It may have looked like a walk in the park for Lewis Hamilton at the front of the field in Austin, but the reality is that the lingering threat of the two-stop strategy coming alive made it a nervous afternoon for the Mercedes crew.
He didn't quite do enough to win his fourth world championship with three races to spare, but another superb performance from Lewis Hamilton in Austin has almost put the title beyond the reach of rival Sebastian Vettel.
This was a race that saw plenty of action up and down the field, including a pass for the lead – the second time Hamilton has put one over on Vettel this year, after Barcelona back in May.
