For Fernando, the final race of the season in Suzuka wasn't the cue for a holiday. Before going home, he conducted a promotional campaign in Korea, demonstrated the R23B on streets of Moscow and last week, was once again representing Renault at the Valladolid factory, which produces around 290,000 Clios and 750,000 engines a year. F1 never stops!

"The enthusiasm of the people we meet, whether they are fans in Korea and Russia, or Renault personnel, is really motivating," admits Fernando. "The season was tiring, but when you see the amount of support we have, it makes you want to push even harder. I almost want the 2004 season to start next week!"

Today at Enstone, Fernando began preparing for next year's championship. "I had a look at the new car in the wind tunnel," he said. "Naturally, I can't talk about it, but all the data the engineers showed me are very encouraging. The factory is working flat out to meet the deadlines for the new car, and the first chassis will be finished in the near future. Then testing starts again in one month's time. Winter is going to go by in a flash!"
