Returning champion to test new Honda-powered MP4-30.
Fernando Alonso will make his return to action for the McLaren team, which he left amidst acrimony after a turbulent 2007 season, on the opening day of the official Jerez Formula One test on February 1.
Fellow world champion Jenson Button will have to wait until day two to get his hands on the new machine, with them alternating again on days three and four.
The test is viewed as crucial to the team’s chances this year after the first tests of Honda’s new hybrid V6 engine were plagued by problems.
McLaren will launch its 2015 challenger at its Woking base on January 29.
Of the teams who have confirmed their line-ups for the opening day, Alonso will drive along with Nico Rosberg (Mercedes) and Carlos Sainz Jr (Toro Rosso).
