Renault test driver Fernando Alonso will be considered as a full time driver for 2003 says Renault Sport boss Patrick Faure. Alonso, who impressed many last year with Minardi, will not be content as a test driver after a season on track competitively and wants to get back to racing soon. Faure said the team have yet to decide on drivers for 2003 but the young Spaniard is part of the equation.

"It is really too early to discuss the drivers of next year now,' he said. "We still have two or three months to look at the races and think about it. I don't think he (Alonso) is going to stay a test driver for eternity. I am not sure he would be happy. We haven't decided yet our team of drivers for next year and obviously Fernando is a part of the equation.'

Current Renault drivers Jarno Trulli and Jenson Button are both with the team for one year -- Trulli has a one year deal with an option to renew while Button is on loan from Williams and in his final season of his two year deal with Renault. Both have performed well with the team but no mention has been made about the future. Principal Flavio Briatore is Alonso's manager and allegedly keen to have him in a race seat.
