The 2017 edition of the annual, fund-raising banquet of the Gilles Villeneuve Museum will be held on Tuesday, October 22nd in Montréal.
The annual banquet serves to evoke the stunning accomplishments of the late Gilles Villeneuve and to collect funds to help running the museum located in Villeneuve’s hometown of Berthierville, Québec.
Next year will mark the 30th anniversary of the museum which houses several memorabilia of the late Ferrari Formula 1 driver, such as his racing snowmobiles, trophies, Formula Ford and Atlantic race cars, racing suits and helmets, photos and videos, as well as valuable documents.
This year’s banquet will be held at the Sofitel hotel on Sherbrooke street West in downtown Montréal. Personalities of the motorsport community, drivers, sponsors, race officials and fans will gather to share great memories of their beloved racer. Guest speakers will also be invited to entertain the guests. This year, Jacques Bienvenue, the well-known endurance racer who has competed in prestigious events such as the 24 Hours of Le Mans and Daytona in the past, will share his souvenirs of Villeneuve.
Several signed items will be auctioned during the evening. Model cars, caps and framed photos signed by drivers such as Lewis Hamilton, Sebastian Vettel, Jacques Villeneuve and others great names will be on sale.
Finally, the winners of the Gilles Villeneuve and Bertrand Fabi trophies will be announced. Auto Sport Québec will award the Villeneuve trophy to the most combative local driver, and the Fabi trophy will go to the local driver who has performed best on the international scene.
