Signature F3 team signs top rookies
Signature has revealed its driver line-up for the 2007 F3 Euro Series season. Four Formula Renault 2.0 graduates, Edoardo Mortara (Italy), Dani Clos (Spain), Jean-Karl Vernay and Yann Clairay (France), will join the French squad which finished 3rd in the series teams' classification last year.
20 year-old Edoardo Mortara's F3 assault comes only one year after he graduated from Karting to Formula Renault. He finished 4th in the Italian FR2.0 Championship and also competed in the Eurocup.
When Dani Clos first raced a formula car, he was only 15. Two years later, in 2006, he took the Formula Renault 2.0 Italian title and three Eurocup race wins. The young Spaniard has been taken into the Renault Driver Development Program.
Jean-Karl Vernay is 19 years old. He won the Formula Campus title in 2005 then scored three pole positions and two race wins on his way to the runner-up spot, in his maiden French Formula Renault season last year. Jean-Karl is a member of the Red Bull Junior Team, and of the FFSA (French Motor sport authority) National Team.
Yann Clairay (23) is the most experienced member of the quartet. He finished runner-up in the French Formula Renault championship in 2004, and 3rd in the Eurocup the following year. Yann couldn't secure a single-seater deal last year and switched to the Le Mans Series. He took part in the Le Mans 24 Hours at the wheel of a Courage.
Signature engineering staff is working on the Dallara-Mercedes aerodynamic and mechanical 2007 evolutions. The cars will be tested at various European venues in March.
