Season review: Four wins for Mücke Motorsport

Altogether Lucas Auer, Felix Rosenqvist, and Roy Nissany scored a total of 605 points at 2014 FIA Formula 3 European Championship.

Mainly Austria’s Lucas Auer again and again proved to have what it took to give his Berlin based squad Team kfzteile24 Mücke Motorsport FIA Formula 3 European Championship triumphs and podiums. When the season was over, he had three race wins under his belt.

At the same time, Felix Rosenqvist, the experienced F3 driver from Sweden, won the prestigious GP de Pau and Israel’s Roy Nissany also succeeded in making for several personal highlights. Altogether, the fast trio scored a total of 605 points, resulting in third place in the team championship for their team.

Lucas Auer secured his first win at the Hockenheimring

Lucas Auer switched from Prema Powerteam to kfzteile24 Mücke Motorsport, in the off-season, and quickly familiarised himself with his new squad – to secure his first win at the Hockenheimring Baden Württemberg, as early as in the fourth race of the season. Afterwards, he celebrated another two triumphs.

At the Nürburgring and – in the season finale – once again at Hockenheim. Nonetheless, the tradition-rich German circuits weren’t the only venues where the 20-year old Austrian proved to be quick. Far from it – he convinced at nearly every circuit on the calendar.

Altogether, he secured 13 FIA Formula 3 European Championship podiums at seven different circuits. And with three podiums, the final race meeting of the season, at Hockenheim, was the most successful one for Auer. In his home event at the Red Bull Ring he secured two podiums and was just as successful at the Hungaroring and the Norisring.

And both at Pau and Spa-Franchorchamps, two circuits that are regarded as particularly challenging, he also clinched a podium. Thanks to these successes, he finished fourth in the championship, thus repeating the result he had secured in 2013.

Felix Rosenqvist scored a total of 198 points

Prior to the season, Felix Rosenqvist also set himself the goal to repeat last year’s result – at least. And in 2013, the Swede had been vice-champion. But his fifth Formula 3 season proved to be a difficult one and in the end, he had to settle for having secured just one race win – in one of the most tradition-rich events on the calendar, the GP de Pau. With a third place at the Hungaroring and a total of 21 finishes under the top ten, the 23-year old scored a total of 198 points to come eighth in the championship.

The driver from Israel

Meanwhile, Roy Nissani could be delighted with having scored championship points on five race weekends and finished 17th in the championship. The driver from Israel scored his first points in early May at the Hockenheimring by finishing eight.

At the Nürburgring he did even better and secured the best result of his second F3 season by taking the chequered flag in sixth position. Having finished seventh in the season finale at Hockenheim and following his first Formula 1 tests, he headed for the off-season.
