Dutch driver Robert Doornbos is preparing for the challenge of Pau, one of the most exciting race of the F.3 Euro Series Championship. The narrow track, the proximity of the crash barriers and the absence of wide run off areas make Pau a totally unforgiving circuit. A well balanced car and a top physical and mental preparation give the driver the right motivation and make them easier to reach good results on this tight street circuit, one of Robert's favourite track.
To get a little bit in the mood for this challenge Robert last weekend visited the Monaco GP (before leaving for Magny-Cours test) together with his friends Matteo Bobbi and Sven Heidfeld. "My parents own an apartment in Montecarlo" -- said Robert -- "So I'm quite familiar with this area. Personally I just love driving on street circuits, as you really have to be 100% mentally focused on those kind of tracks! I'm very confident that a good result can be achieved at Pau".
Last RACES: After two races only, the young talented Robert Doornbos has already scores 12 points in the Drivers standings. At the opening round of the championship at Hockenheim Robert qualified in a best 3rd and 8th positions and finished Race1 and Race2 respectively at the 2nd and 8th places. At round 2, in Adria, Robert suffered some set-up problems and crossed the chequered flag of Race1 and Race2 in 10th and 6th positions after having qualified 14th and 10th.
Last TESTING: Robert tested at Varano and then at Magny-Cours (on 2, 3 June). The 3 testing days were very beneficial for the Dutch driver. He recorded impressive times (fastest time in day1 at Magny-Cours until the last 5 minutes when those who had fitted new tyres for a last gasp assault on top spot moved ahead of him as he remained out on old rubber) and secured a good performance continuing to work through development programmes and covering all items on the testing agenda.
