Robert Doornobs stays sharp with two-day successful testing session on Magny-Cours track
The Dutch talented driver Robert Doornbos took another important step forward in his preparation ahead Round 3 of the F.3 Euro Series championship that will be held at Pau next 7-9 June. Robert completed a productive two-day testing session on the F.1 Magny-Cours track on 2nd and 3rd June.
Robert in both the two days impressed for his great performance. In day1 he lead the 28 drivers group by maintaining the fastest lap time until the last five minutes when other drivers entered the box and then regained the track with the new set of tires while Robert remained on track with old one. In day2 of test the Dutch driver concentrated on the research of the best set-up for his Dallara-Mugen, prepared by Team Ghinzani, and did not follow the fastest time. Anyway he finished only 25 thousandth behind Championship leader R.Briscoe. "I'm satisfied with my two day testing" - commented Robert - "We have proved different set-ups on my car and we have found a good balance. I feel more in confidence with it and I think that we are ready to do a good race in Pau".
These testing sessions were a great opportunity to prepare for the upcoming race in Pau, France. Even if the young Robert knows that having already taken a podium and 3 further points is a good way to start, he also knows that it is always important not to let the guard down. And sometimes any little thing that can be discovered in testing sessions can be a big help on race weekend.
