IMPRESSIVE ZOLDER DEBUT FOR BRATT WITH THIRD FASTEST QUALIFYING TIME
Will Bratt produced an impressive showing during his first ever appearance at Circuit Zolder in Belgium yesterday, Thursday, 20th August, by posting the third fastest time in qualifying ahead of the fifth and sixth rounds of the 2009 PartyPokerRacing.it Euroseries 3000 Championship.
Lapping the 2.5-mile former Grand Prix venue with a best time of 1m19.647 seconds (181.29km/h), the 21-year-old from Banbury, Oxon, is well placed ahead of the first of the weekend's races, which will take place on Saturday, 23rd August, having qualified just 0.012 seconds shy of the front row.
In scorching hot conditions, with temperatures well into the upper 30 degree bracket, Will enjoyed a solid build-up to qualifying during two half hour practice sessions. Although he knows there is more time to find before the weekend's action, Will is certainly pleased with the start he has made on his maiden visit to Zolder.
"I'm pretty happy with the third fastest time, it puts us in a good position for the first race", said the EmiliodeVillota.com Motorsport driver, "We've still got work to do to try and find more time to get closer to (Marco) Bonanomi's pace but there was nothing between us and Rodolfo (Gonzalez).
"We'll look through the data and see where we can improve and I'm sure we'll be in good shape for the races on Saturday. Obviously I'd have preferred to have been on the front row but yesterday's running was very positive, especially considering it was our first ever day at Zolder."
With no track action for the PartyPokerRacing.it Euroseries 3000 Championship today, Friday, 21st August, round five of the 2009 campaign will take place on Saturday, 22nd August, at 10.50 (local time) with round six expected to follow at around 14.10.
