Erik Janis goes to season final in rookie lead
The Euro Series F3 season 2008 is coming to its end and Erik Janis and his almost 30 rivals will race at Hockenheim this weekend for the last time. The German track has a special place in the calendar as the series race there twice during a year - it starts and finishes the season. Erik, as always in the Team Mucke, will enter the final event as the leader of the rookie standings. However, he is not thinking about holding the position. He is focused on driving.
The Mercedes-Benz junior driver therefore has not been ruminating how to take the title. He wants to get the best results on the track instead of doing maths on the paper.
Erik Janis: "We are reaching the end of the season, it is pity. I would race all the time... I am looking forward to Hockenheim. Thanks to the experience from the Spring's event I will not be delayed by the need to learn the track, which was the case in majority events this season. Moreover, it is one of my favourite tracks. I am leading rookies but to be honest I am not thing about it. Of course, I want to win it but my focus is on the racing and not counting points. Qualifying will be again at premium. I can not disappoint there and then there should be a chance to get a good result."
Peter Mucke, Team Principal: "I am pleased with Erik's good season and hope that we will finish it with a nice result at Hockenheimring like good points overall and rookie title, for example. I like that he has not started to count points and all the possibilities and instead he is focused on the performance on the track. Erik has been improving the whole year in all aspects including qualifying. Cooperation with him is very good."
