Sixth row for Erik Janis

The Mucke Motorsport driver Erik Janis set 12th time in today's qualifying session at Barcelona which means sixth row for the race 1. The twenty years old Mercedes Benz junior driver has been driving at Barcelona for the first time but he quickly found a good rhythm on the Catalan track. He was sixth in the second test and eighth in the free practice. The field is incredible competitive and tight, the proof is that Erik is just four tenths behind pole position.

Erik is third in the rookie standings and today he set sixth best rookie time.

Erik Janis: "I welcome this position on the starting grid. It still is not ideal qualifying result but today's performance has given me a chance to fight for points. I got used to the track quickly and was sixth in the second test which was a nice boost. I still have some margin in using new tyres. I am always quick on used tyres but I loose positions after tyre changes. I have just one aim for tomorrow - to get into the top 8." www.erik-janis.cz

Peter Mucke, Team Principal: "I am happy that Erik has shown improvement of his qualifying form, let's continue this trend. The important point is that he has been working hard and we can see results."
