A Satisfying Result

Montreal, Canada, August 1, 2004 -- Round 14 of the highly competitive Euro Formula 3 Series brought some satisfaction to Canadian racer Bruno Spengler who claimed 7th place today at the Nurburgring, Germany.

"My mechanics and my engineer at Mucke Motorsport did a fantastic job yesterday night," said the ambassador of the Casino of Montreal. "They changed the set-up and modified a few things because my car was a handful to drive yesterday. Today, it was not only faster but also a lot easier to drive."

Spengler, at the wheel of his Dallara-Mercedes Benz, started the race from 10th on the grid. "My objective was to score points today. I knew I had to take a very good start because this short circuit offers very few passing opportunities," said the 20-year old driver.

"I took a good start and passed two competitors before we reached the first corner. Then, I put pressure on Eric Salignon who spun in front of me, promoting me to 7th place. I was catching Nicolas Lapierre for 6th place but I ran out of laps. I crossed the line in 7th place, right behind him."

Spengler is happy with his performance. "Seventh place gives me two championship points, and promotes from 11th to 9th in the standings with a total of 23 points."
