A Hard Race For Spengler

Montreal, Canada, July 31, 2004 -- Canadian race car driver Bruno Spengler claimed 9th place today in Round 13 of the highly competitive Euro Formula 3 Series held at the Nurgurgring, Germany.

An official driver of the Mercedes-Benz Junior Team and the ambassador of the Casino of Montreal, the 20-year old Spengler qualified 9th during this morning's only timed session. "My car suffered from huge over steer and I really drove it as hard as I could. It was impossible to go any quicker than that," said Spengler.

The #3 Dallara-Mercedes of Spengler took the standing start of the race in 9th position. "I took a good start and I slipped into 7th place in the first corner," he explained.

"When we arrived in the second corner, I was running alongside Alexandre Premat. I had nowhere to go and I drove on the dirty part of the track. My tires picked up some dirt and two cars powered ahead of me. I was then running in 9th place again."

Despite the precarious handling of his car, Spengler drove a strong race. "Things were very difficult out there. I had to fight the car all race long and manage massive over steer. The back end of the car was extremely loose. We must solve the problem tonight because there's another race tomorrow and I want to score a few more championship points."
