Another Great Recovery and s Point for Spengler

Montreal, Canada, June 26, 2004 -- Canadian race car driver Bruno Spengler made another exciting recovery and scored a championship point today in Round 9 of the Formula 3 Euro Series held on the Norisring circuit in Nuremberg, Germany.

Spengler, the ambassador of the Casino of Montreal and a member of the Mercedes-Benz Junior Team in Formula 3, qualified 13th for today's race. "When I pitted for my new set of tires, the officials weighted my car and it was right on the limit," said Spengler. "I knew I could not do many laps with the new tires because it would have used too much fuel. I only did three laps and I returned into the pits. That gave me the 13th place on the grid."

The 100,000 spectators witnessed another fantastic Formula 3 race. "I took a good start and passed several cars during the opening lap of the race," said the 20-year old Canadian. "Then, I had some problems passing Daniel de la Rosa. He kept closing the door on me. I eventually moved alongside him and he banged into my car. That knocked my front wing off. I managed to power in the front of him to take 8th place. The car was handling fine afterwards because this track does not require much downforce. I finally crossed the line in 8th place."

Spengler scored another championship point. "There were some great battles out there," he concluded. "Those running behind me stayed there all race long. We are quite competitive here. Tomorrow, I will start the race in 8th place and I intend to fight with the leaders."
