Changes For Italy
Montreal, Canada, May 12, 2004 -- Canadian race car driver Bruno Spengler of St-Hippolyte, Quebec will compete this weekend in Round 5 and 6 of the hotly contested Euro Fomula 3 Series. Spengler is happy that the set-up of the team's two Dallara-Mercedes has been modified for these races.
"The engineers of team Mücke Motorsport looked carefully at the data we collected in the last races and they decided to make some changes to the mechanical and aerodynamic settings of the car," said Spengler. "However, since private testing is banned in the series, it was impossible to validate these changes. We will see how the car now handles only when I will take the track in Adria."
The Italian road course is short and twisty, and the traffic generated by some 30 cars taking the same at the same time will undoubtedly cause some problems to the drivers, especially in qualifying. "This track is made of slow corners and short straights. It really looks like a karting track," the former two-time French karting champion added.
"The fastest corner of all is taken in fourth gear at 125 km/h -- this is slow! However, I am confident for the two races of this weekend because of all the changes the team made to the cars. Physically, I am in very good condition. I trained a lot recently and focused on my back and neck muscles. I also did a lot of cycling and jogging. I am now ready for action!"
