Portuguese driver was third on the Abu Dhabi testing day
Antonio Felix da Costa truly impressed on his debut behind the wheel of a Formula 1, the biggest stage in sports car in the world. The Portuguese driver was the third fastest of the fourteen drivers who participated in the "rookies" test day in Yaas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi, giving unequivocal proof of his talent.
The times made, were, no doubt, impressive, and Antonio Felix da Costa finished with the third best mark, just behind a Red Bull and a McLaren, having beaten teams like Ferrari, Renault, Mercedes and Williams. But more than anything else, Antonio Felix da Costa impressed because of his evolution throughout the day, the magnificent adaptation to Force Índia F1 car, and his quick learning of the circuit, impressing the paddock of Formula 1. This is indeed a unique day in the career of this driver, the youngest Portuguese to sit at the controls of a Formula 1 car. Additionally, he has made an absolutely spectacular test session, leaving excellent indications to the team, and being faster than the team's test driver, current leader of the DTM, the Scot Paul Di Resta.
At the end of this intense but very tasty day of testing, Antonio Felix da Costa claimed to be living "the happiest day of my life as a professional driver. I loved the car and the team, I felt very comfortable and welcome from the first minute and throughout the day all of this was reflected. The Force India team is fantastic, showing great ambition in a competition that includes very strong and well equipped teams. I hope this was just the first of many days in Formula 1. It was indeed a perfect and surely inforgettable day."
About the test itself, the driver revealed that "I was able to make a steady evolution, improving times and getting the most out of the car on each lap. On the other hand, the good integration with the team was also very positive, since I could also help them, explaining what I felt on the track. As aresult it was a magnificent day of testing. I would like to thank Tiago Monteiro, SoWhat and all the people who believe in me as much i do! "
This will work as an extra motivation for Antonio Felix da Costa, that is immediately headding East End, where, this weekend, will race the legendary Macau Grand Prix Formula 3, representing the Carlin Team, with high ambitions in a race that brings together most prominent names in that discipline in the World.
