Why Codemasters kept F1 2019 driver transfers secret

The latest official Formula 1 game is here, much earlier than usual, and it's packed with new features. One that was only revealed a week ahead of release was the addition of driver transfers in the career mode, something that has never previously been permitted.

Glenn Freeman visited Codemasters to sit down with F1 game director Lee Mather to get the story behind the 'quiet' reveal of a highly-requested feature, as well as getting an understanding of the thinking behind some of the other game-changing additions, such as Formula 2, enhanced AI behaviour, and online car and driver customisation
