Whincup, Vautier to race a Mercedes at Bathurst
Reigning Bathurst 12 Hour winner Jamie Whincup and former IndyCar driver Tristan Vautier are set to race a Mercedes at Mount Panorama next year.
The pair are reportedly teaming up with US-based Aussie Kenny Habul in a Scott Taylor Motorsport Mercedes for the 12 Hour next February, with Vautier and Habul regular teammates in the IMSA WeatherTech series in the US.
For Whincup it's a switch from the Maranello Motorsport Ferrari squad that he, Craig Lowndes, and Toni Vilander won the race for this year.
He replaces Supercars teammate Shane van Gisbergen in the STM Mercedes line-up, with a second STM entry to be driven by Tony D'Alberto, Craig Baird, and Max Twigg.
A bumper 60-car entry list for the 2018 Bathurst 12 Hour has already been announced.
