Nurburgring 24: Audi in control at halfway point

The No. 28 Audi Sport Team WRT machine leads the way 12 hours into the grueling endurance race.

Audi is once again proving their worth in these 24 hour races, whether it be the Audi R8 LMS or the R18 e-tron quattro. 12 hours into the Nurburgring 24, Christopher Mies, Edward Sandström, Nico Müller and Laurens Vanthoor hold the top spot in the No. 28 Audi Sport Team WRT machine.

Two minutes back is the No. 44 Falken Motorsports Porsche 911, which is pursued by a pair of BMW Sports Trophy Team Marc VDS BMW Z4 GT3s. Things have not gone the way of last year's winners, though, with the No. 1 Audi crashing out during the 10th hour in the Pflanzgarten section of the massive circuit.

Rain also ignited a bit of chaos during the eighth hour, as Motorsport.com reported earlier today.
