Hankook lands control tyre deal for Bathurst 6-Hour

The new-for-2016 Bathurst 6-Hour endurance race will be run on a Hankook control tyre, event organisers confirmed today.

The South Korean tyre maker will provide Ventus TD Z221 grooved tyres for what is expected to be a bumper field of production cars that will line up for the inaugural Bathurst 6-Hour next Easter.

“Like every competitor, Hankook is always excited to go back to Bathurst, a place with remarkable history and tradition and we’re excited to be part of a new one with the Bathurst 6-Hour,” said Hankook’s motorsport manager Dean Evans.

“As Hankook’s premium R-spec tyre, the TD has proven itself fast and durable across production car racing categories and tarmac rallying, and all conditions from winning Time Attack in the heat of Queensland, to winning stages in the cold climate of Targa Tasmania.

“In just five years, Hankook Tyre Australia’s competition department has grown from its launch in 2010 to be the number two motorsport tyre brand in Australia, with the Bathurst 6 hour signalling its 10th control tyre category.

“Putting aside V8 Supercars, Hankook is now number one motorsport tyre in Australia and New Zealand.”

The brand also recently signed on to be the control tyre supplier for the Extreme Rallycross Series.
