Brabham eyes Bathurst 12 Hour
Matt Brabham has his eyes on a Bathurst 12 Hour hit-out in the near future, and admits he has tried to put a deal together for the race in the past.

While the 21-year-old has done some racing on Australian soil in the past, having competed in the Victorian and Australian Formula Ford Championships between 2009 and 2011, he has never had the opportunity to race at Bathurst.
That is something he is hoping to rectify in the near future, telling Motorsport.com that he has his eyes firmly set on a 12 Hour drive.
“The Bathurst 12 Hour would be awesome,” he said. “I’d love to come back and do that.
“It doesn’t really clash with any schedules in America, so I’ve been trying to get into it over the last couple of years to get my taste of Bathurst. I never got that, because Formula Ford never went there, and nothing else I ever raced back here ever went there.
“So that’s the one thing I want to come back and do.”
GT3 the right transition
According to Brabham the 12 Hour event would be a perfect stepping stone into racing at Mount Panorama, rather than trying to jump off the deep end and straight into the Bathurst 1000.
“If I jumped in a V8 Supercar I’d be a little out of my depth there; I haven’t spent too much time in tin-tops, and the guys who race V8 Supercars have really got their niche there, and they’re very good at it,” he said.
“They are specialised in that area, so it makes it tough.
“If I wanted to do the Bathurst 1000, I feel like I would need to ease into through the Dunlop Series first.”
The Brabham name has won at Mount Panorama before, Geoff and David teaming up to win the 1997 Bathurst 1000 in a factory BMW Super Tourer.
