Audi tests unidentified car in private session at Monza

Photos and video captured from the private test Audi conducted at Monza this week revealed something interesting.

In a private test conducted at the Monza circuit in Italy, Audi tested its R18 LMP1 machine. It appeared to be running the aero package for Le Mans, which is just over 50 days away.

They also tested another car, which was decked out in a heavy camouflage livery. The unidentified GT3 car is believed by many to be the 2016 Audi R8 GT/GT+ design.

Audi is coming off a very forgettable weekend that saw both of their LMP1 cars destroyed in separate incidents at Silverstone. They had started the six hour event in the 2nd and 4th positions while Toyota took pole, and also the top two spots in the race when it was all said and done.

Next up on the WEC schedule is the Six Hours of Spa-Francorchamps on May 3rd, the penultimate race before Le Mans.
