Aston Martin plans Bathurst 12 Hour entry

Aston Martin is planning on a running a factory entry at next year’s Bathurst 12 Hour, according to reports from the Geneva Motor Show.

Motoring magazine Wheels today revealed that Aston Martin will field a one-car factory team at Mount Panorama next February, running a V8 Vantage in either GT3 or GT4 specification.

The driving line-up will feature a selection of Aston Martin factory drivers, as well as the brand’s boss Andy Palmer.

“I’m planning on racing in [the 12 Hour] next year,” Palmer told Wheels.

“I’m personally going to be driving, and I don’t believe we’ve publicly announced it. Well, until now.

“For me it has always been one of those dreams to go and race at Bathurst and now there’s an opportunity to go and do it next year.

“I’m not going there for outright honours, I’m going to survive. We’re going there for the experience.”

“It’ll be a factory team. I don’t think we’ll team up with any local teams. We may bring in a local driver but we’ll work that out.

“We’ll find a good Aussie to help us along; there are plenty of them.”
