Skoda Charouz began with third
Team Skoda Charouz Racing System - Lola/Judd entered the second round of the Le Mans Series at Valencia in a similar way to Monza. The factory Lola B07/17 Judd was among the fastest cars also in Spain. Drivers Jan Charouz, Stefan Mücke and Alex Yoong were third in the first free practice.
They were beaten only by the two factory Peugeots 908. The drivers of the Czech team ended 16th in the second session after the team were playing with different setups. There is even higher number of cars in the field comparing to Monza with 46 cars registered for Valencia.
Jan Charouz: "I had to get used to driving of our Lola again after the A1GP race at Brands Hatch. There is simply difference between a formula car and a prototype. Anyway, I am happy because the car has been working well. The biggest problem is traffic. The track itself is quite short, narrow and twisty and when you have almost 50 cars on it is often very dramatic."
Stefan Mücke: "My feeling is very similar to Jan's. The only difference is that I do not have to get used to difference between a formula and a prototype. Our Lola Judd has been running without problems, so I believe that we will have a successful weekend."
Alex Yoong: "It is my first race with the team and like Jan I raced at Brands Hatch with the A1GP last weekend, so I am learning the car a bit. However, both team and car work very well, so I obviously hope that we will be competitive in tomorrow's qualifying and especially in Sunday's race."
Antonin Charouz, team principal: "Like at Monza, I am totally satisfied after Friday. The result of the second session is not important, all our drivers were trying car, getting used to it and to the track."
