Team Bruichladdich aims at another top 5 at Spa
After finishing 5th at the 8 Hours of Le Castellet, Tim Greaves, Karim Ojjeh and Christian Ebbesvik firmly intend to maintain the presence of Team Bruichladdich in the top 5 of the LMP2 category at the 1000kms of Spa, and even battle for a podium finish.
The 1000kms of Spa is an event not to be missed for many reasons. First, this event is competed on one of the most beautiful circuits in the world, a very fast and hilly track appreciated by all the Le Mans Series contenders. Second, the 1000kms of Spa generally gather many teams and drivers coming to the Belgian Ardennes for a great rehearsal before the Le Mans 24 Hours, to be competed on June 12-13.
Last year the 1000kms of Spa unfortunately ended with DNFs for Karim Ojjeh and Tim Greaves. Team Bruichladdich DNF resulted from an unprecedented scrutineering check at the end of the race and is still a very sore point. At that time they respectively drove a Zytek and a Radical, before they join forces this year with the white and red Zytek previously entered by GAC Racing Team.
The Spa 1000kms will be the race of many firsts for Team Bruichladdich, with Tim Greaves competing for the first time in the Belgian Ardennes at the wheel of the Zytek, although having won several events there previously, one with his son Team Manager Jacob in a Radical SR8, and Christian Ebbesvik racing his first LMS endurance event there, after he has raced at the circuit in an FLM.
Despite some pit stop issues at Le Castellet, Team Bruichladdich proved very consistent, battling in the top 5 in qualifying and race. For Karim Ojjeh, the prime objective at Spa will be to maintain that competitiveness, while a greater knowledge of the potential of the driving line-up and the car after the 8 Hours of Le Castellet will enable the three drivers to battle for the podium. And no better place than the most beautiful circuit in the world to score Team Bruichladdich's first 2010 top 3, for the Team is well over due!
