One moment with...Bruno Senna!
This morning, while the teams were unpacking in the paddock of Spa-Francorchamps, we could spent some special time with Bruno Senna and talk to him about his commitment in the Le Mans Series, about him racing in Belgium this weekend and about his future. You will find selected extracts below.
About Spa: "The Spa-Francorchamps circuit is really one of my two favorite circuits, along with Macau -- even if this is not a permanent track. Here, it is not possible to run the perfect lap because the circuit is very long. It is very hard to run the three sectors together perfectly. If you drive the Raidillon the way you want to, you will probably lose time right after the corner. I like this challenge."
About Le Mans: "Of course, I watched the movie, like everybody! But I have been interested in this race for five years now and I really wish to enter the race -- regardless of my on-going possible commitments in Formula 1. At Le Mans, the atmosphere is very special, and I think that you only realize what it really is as a whole after being part of it."
"What am I impressed by at the most? To drive in the dark! I already did it once, during the Le Mans Series Test Days at Le Castellet, and it has been a great experience. But I don't know the long Le Mans track and it will be a major handicap because in the dark, you don't drive with your eyes but with your head."
About Endurance: "The philosophy is very different between Formula 1 and Endurance. When you drive a prototype, you must remember first that you share the wheel with your teammates! Moreover, you have to be soft on your tires, to deal with traffic and overtaking... There are a lot of cars on the track and if you can quickly recognize the fastest cars, you never know who is driving, and so how the driver in front of you will behave."
"I really enjoy qualifying because I can push very hard and for a sprinter like me, it is only pleasure."
About the victory: " With our new car, I can say that our chassis is as best as Peugeot's one, and the car is very competitive. Then, whatever happens, the diesel cars still make the difference when the driver speeds up."
"All what I expect from this year, is not to be the worst elements of the team, because Endurance is a team work above all, and before aiming at the victory, I really does not want to be the one who ruins the team effort."
We would like to thank Bruno for giving us some time, for listening and replying. Hugues de Chaunac summed things up very well, Bruno gathers three main qualities: "talent, intelligence and sense of reality." We wish him good luck for the up-coming weekend.
