REBELLION RACING READY FOR THE NEXT CHALLENGE AT SPA
Satisfied by their debut in the 2010 Le Mans Series with a podium at the opening round at Le Castellet, REBELLION Racing now heads to the legendary circuit of Spa- Francorchamps in Belgium.
Spa, the historical home of the Belgian Formula 1 Grand Prix, is renowned as one of the drivers' favourite circuits in the world, featuring classic corners like Eau Rouge. The track is fast, hilly and twisty, and it is subject to a local climate that can make weather conditions extremely variable. With 51 cars that will take the start of the race, traffic will add more spice to the challenge.
REBELLION Racing will face extremely strong opposition at Spa, which is the last "dress rehearsal" before next month's Le Mans 24 Hours with seven diesel-powered cars being present, three Factory Peugeots, three Factory Audis and one customer Peugeot.
The #12 and #13 Lola B10/60 Rebellion powered REBELLION Racing cars are aiming for strong placings amongst the "factory" cars, in order to score maximum points for the Le Mans Series Team Championship, the main objective for the season for the Swiss team.
The Qualifying session will take place on Saturday 8 May at 14:20, and the rolling start of the 1000 km of Spa will be at 11:30 on Sunday 9 May. The race will last for 143 laps and around six hours.
REBELLION Racing Team Manager Bart Hayden commented: "Following our podium at Le Castellet we are very much looking forward to seeing how our cars perform in a new type of challenge, which is Spa. We will be facing some important new rivals in Belgium with six factory diesel-powered cars, but we're all feeling confident and upbeat as we head to Spa-Francorchamps.
"Since last month's opening round of the Le Mans Series the team has been very focused on further improving the cars; Sebah Automotive, Lola and Judd have worked hard to implement new solutions and changes to the cars since Le Castellet."
