Second round of the Le Mans Series - 10 May 2009

Just out of the workshop of Le Mans, the brand new Pescarolo-Judd did surprise everyone for its first race in Barcelona. After leading almost the entire race, Jean-Christophe Boullion and Christophe Tinseau missed the victory due to an unfortunate pace-car out on the track just before the end of the race. This second position obtained for its maiden race showed the real potential of this prototype fitted with a totally new aero configuration developed during the winter season. The sister car, driven by Bruce Jouanny and Joao Barbosa, in the 2008 configuration, finished 6th, thus allowing a brilliant second position in the Manufacturers championship, one point behind Lola Aston-Martin.

In Spa, we will take our revenge!

The circuit of Spa-Francorchamps is considered as one of the best circuit in the world by a majority of drivers. There is so much legend attached to it that every single trip in the Belgian Ardennes is charged with strong emotions. We will have twice as many chances in front of the competition. Our two cars will be presented in configuration 2009. During the recent test days organised on the Bugatti Circuit, Pescarolo Sport set the best lap time while testing a series of different settings in order to be prepared for the specificities of the Belgian circuit. The racetrack is very demanding and will allow us to enhance the qualities of our equipment and our drivers to stand out.

Battle among petrol-engined cars settled by the diesel engines

A few weeks before the 24 Hours of Le Mans, as a preparation round, Peugeot Sport decided to enter two 908 Hdi in Spa. In order to guarantee the equivalence between the various engines, the Automobile Club de l'Ouest decided very recently to impose an additional 30 kilos of ballast to diesel- engined cars. But the difference in power is so huge that I am afraid we will assist to two races, one among petrol-engined cars - left behind- and a second one reserved to diesel engines! Small consolation, for the next 24 Hours of Le Mans, there will be a 908 Hdi entered by Pescarolo Sport. In the meantime, it should not be forgotten that there are many very competitive petrol-engined cars to beat and that the Manufacturers championship will be obviously won by a petrol-engined car since neither Peugeot nor Audi decided to participate to all races.

"Our priority will remain winning races and winning the championship as we already did it twice. It will constitute the priority of the teams of drivers, unchanged since Barcelona."
