First pole for a Courage LC70 LMP1 and this in only its second race! The Courage LC70 of Team Swiss Spirit got the pole position this afternoon during qualifying for the Le Mans Series 1000 km of Spa. On a wet track Marcel Fassler was the fastest and confirmed the performances of the LC70's during the practice sessions. The LC70 n12 of the works team in the hands of Jean-Marc Gounon finished 4th and the n13 will start from 8th place
Yves Courage: "Incredible. In only its second race weekend getting the pole, this feels great for us as manufacturer. Congratulations to Marcel and all people at Swiss Spirit they all did a great job. For us I'm also happy with the 4th place of the n12 as we experienced a big improvement on the rain tires. We gambled a little bit in the last minutes of the session and told Jean-Marc to go for it. He tried and improved on its first sector time but slid of the track and hit a tire wall. The car will be ready for the race.
The n13 car will start from the 4th row."
Courage C65 clients
The Barazi-Epsilon C65 was the fastest of the C65 clients and finished 3rd in the LMP2 class. Competition will again be fierce during the race in this class.
In the second race of the ALMS season, the C65 from BK-Motorsport with their new tire partner finished 2nd in the LMP2 class only one 1 lap down from the winner.
The 1000 km of Spa race will be held on Sunday and starts at 12h30 (Belgian time).
