The Czech team Skoda Charouz Racing System -- Lola/Judd scored another great result in the Le Mans Series. German Stefan Muecke set third time in the qualifying for tomorrow's 1000 km at Spa and he was fastest between petrol cars. The first row was locked by Peugeots that are powered by more powerful turbo diesel engines. Muecke is sharing the car only with Jan Charouz because Alex Yoong has preferred to focus on the upcoming A1GP season.
Also round fifth out of seven has a huge grid. The track in the Ardens saw no less than 48 cars of four classes in the qualifying. Jarek Janis, the second Czech in the entry list, teams up with the Dutchman Peter Kox and they will start with the Spyker C8 Spyder GTR from 40th place overall and 10th in the LM GT2.
Stefan Muecke: "I am very happy. Everything went very well. Our team have been again working flawlessly, like in the previous races. It was difficult to do a quick lap in the free practices because the traffic was quite high even though the track is quite long. It was a bit better in the qualifying but again I was delayed in my quickest lap when the tyres were at their best. Fortunately, it did not cost too much. It is amazing that we are in front of so many strong competitors. I am really looking forward to the race. I am in a good shape -- I was racing almost all the time during the Le Mans Series brake, I did FIA GT races and also in 'the Czech DTM' like they nicknamed the Czech championship, so I feel really well behind the wheel and enjoy every single lap."
Jan Charouz: "We are fully satisfied. Stefan did a great job and we have fulfilled our aim to be the best among the petrol cars. We just need to repeat it also in the race... We were quite evenly matched with Stefan in the free practices but he is more experienced, so he got the chance in the qualifying. I spent about one and half our behind the wheel in the practices, which is great amount of time. The car understeered a bit but our engineers will fine tune the car for the race. I am also looking forward to the race, Stefan will start."
Antonin Charouz, Team Principal: "I am really pleased with the performances of both our boys. Stefan was not the only one who made me happy. Also Jan did very quick lap times, which is promising for the race. Balanced line-up is very important in endurance racing. I am happy that many very good teams are behind us. Every driver or team, there are big names."
