Pla fastest at Paul Ricard ELMS test
Mar 23, 2016, 8:00 PM

Current Ford GTE driver Olivier Pla emerged fastest after two days of official pre-season testing at Paul Ricard in a Michelin-shod Krohn Racing Ligier shared with Tracy Krohn and Niclas Jonsson.

#2 United Autosports Ligier JSP3 - Nissan: Alex Brundle, Mike Guasch
#51 AF Corse Ferrari F458 Italia: Rui Aguas, Marco Cioci, Piergiuseppe Perazzini

The Frenchman set a best lap of 1m48.100s to beat Pierre Thiriet’s ORECA 05-Nissan by just under two tenths of a second. Rain in the final session this afternoon thwarted any attempts to usurp Pla’s time.

Thirteen LMP2 cars took part in the two day test. Several new entries made their public test bow including the new ORECA 05-Nissans of Eurasia Motorsports and reigning champions Greaves Motorsport.

Two new Ligier runners were also in action with the IDEC Sport Racing outfit joined by the SO24! By Lombard squad.

Greaves ended third overall with Memo Rojas stopping the clocks at 1m48.596s in their new Ligier.

Olympic cycling legend Sir Chris Hoy continued his preparations for a possible Le Mans debut with the Algarve Pro Racing squad which secured a position on the grid in June yesterday.

Smaller cars in action too

Twenty-one LMP3 cars were on track at Paul Ricard with 19 of the baby-prototypes being the Ligier JS P3 model.

Alex Brundle claimed fastest time in one of the two United Autosports-entered Ligier-Nissan JSP3s.

Marco Cioci driving an AF Corse Ferrari 458 Italia was quickest in the LMGTE class followed by stablemate Matt Griffin.
