Last test day for the LMES series at the Paul Ricard HTTT.
The two days LMES testing session ended today at the Paul Ricard High Tech Test Track. It looked like a true rehearsal for the first race of this new series, which is to take place in Monza (Italy) on Mai 9th.
The major goal of the teams was to complete as many kilometres as possible and work on the endurance set ups of their cars to prepare the coming 1000 km of Monza. That is how Audi Goh, Audi UK and Team Pescarolo completed over 800 km yesterday, during the first test day.
Today Audi GOH concluded the session driving 996 km and recording the best lap time of the day with Tom Kristensen. At the same time Team Pescarolo completed some 979 km. The second best time was set by Jan Lammers at the wheel of the Dome of Team Racing for Holland.
Frenchman and Marseille native Nicolas Minassian set the third best time of the day driving the DBA Zyteck of team Creation Autosportif.
Patrick Peter and Stephane Ratel, the LMES organisation team, took advantage of the Paul Ricard HTTT test session to announce to the press, the complete driver- and team line-up of the season, counting some 40 participants for the season and 48 for the first race in Monza. They also announced the wonderful international TV broadcast planned for the new LMES series.
"If we chose to come to the Paul Ricard HTTT for this official test session" commented Patrick Peter today, "it is first of all because we know the teams can truly prepare for Le Mans 24 Hours thanks to the Mistral straight which is close to the Hunaudière straight that we will have at the race. Second, we also know that the weather is nice and dry here. But also, I must say, the work conditions that we have at the Paul Ricard HTTT are really optimal for this kind of test. We invited the ACO President Mister Jean-Claude Plassart, who was truly impressed with the installations."
Great sunshine and Mistral wind were today's weather conditions with air temperatures from 7C to 18C and track temperatures from 10C to 30C.
