QUIFEL-ASM Team in the leading group at Nurburgring

Free practice finished today at Nurburgring. The ASM Team were always up with the leaders in the Lola B05/40 AER, ending the morning session with the second best time in the group, 1.47.130, and the afternoon session with the third best in the LMP2 class, 1.46.321. Therefore the ASM Team beat last year's best time and is feeling confident for a good qualifying position tomorrow.

Olivier Pla got the best times in both sessions and Miguel Pais do Amaral had a very positive afternoon practice session, improving on the morning time by two seconds.

The new Dunlop tyre combination tested in Estoril at the beginning of August performed extremely well and was a contributing factor to the success.

Weather conditions proved to be better than had been forecasted, giving the drivers and teams a sunny day for practice. The forecast is for weather conditions to deteriorate over the weekend, with rain forecast for the qualifying round tomorrow and for the race on Sunday.

On Saturday, after a further morning session of free practice, the qualification round will take place to decide positions on the starting grid for the race due to take place on the Sunday at 11:00.

The 1000km race in Nurburgring will have extensive television coverage, with Eurosport 2 channel covering events live from 11:00 on Sunday, for a total transmission time of 3 hours and 45 minutes.
