Tristan Gommendy has signed to compete in next year's European Le Mans Series with Eurasia Motorsport, the team with which he ended his 2015 campaign in the Fuji Asian Le Mans series round.

Gommendy, who raced for the Thiriet by TDS squad for the last two seasons, will join Chinese racer Kevin Pu Jun Jin and Nick de Bruijn in a new ORECA 05-Nissan, the same combination which Gommendy raced in the ELMS this year.

“Eurasia has the necessary resources to attain its objectives,” said Gommendy. “It’s an extremely ambitious highly motivated team whose staff and technical package will be even stronger in 2016 to enable it to fight at the front.

"I’m looking forward to meeting my team-mates, Kevin and Nick, to start this new challenge. The team and I are attacking the 2016 season in a humble frame of mind.

"But I’m going to pull out all the stops and work hard with the team, ORECA and Dunlop Motorsport so that we can fight our way to the top of the ELMS hierarchy.”

Eurasia Motorsport finished sixth in its first ELMS season in 2015, scoring a best result of a fifth place at Silverstone in an elderly ORECA 03-Nissan.

“We feel with Tristan on board we have a very strong driver line up which will give us a chance of being competitive in the European Le Mans Series,” commented Eurasia Team Principal, Mark Goddard.

"While we considered entering WEC next year, we came to the conclusion it was better to concentrate on the European Series, where our driver combination should be competitive, and look to 2017 to move up to WEC.

Goddard confirmed that an entry for the Spa FIA WEC race will be under consideration should the team be granted an entry for the Le Mans 24 Hours.

"If we gain an entry we do want to compete in the Le Mans 24 Hours and a warm up at Spa WEC round would help. However it is dependent on us receiving an entry,” said Goddard.

“Tristan is a platinum driver for a good reason, and he has a wealth of experience.”
