A misfiring problem caused by electronics halted the Ferrari’s engine a couple of times.
Again an excellent final fourth place and again a podium finish shortly missed for Joël Camathias in the European Le Mans Series, whose second round took place at Imola.
Two minutes were lost and with them, the podium chances. Still, the positive out of it is that the package proved again competitive in such a closely-fought category, and that Andrea and Joël, now fourth, are still in contention in the overall standings.
Joël Camathias: “Ahead of the next race in Austria, we should probably visit Lourdes and light a candle there! We were again quite unlucky and lost a podium finish for the second time in a row. It’s frustrating, although we can draw some consolation from knowing that we are in the top end of the field.
I took the start and during the first stint the pace was there and I could be with the front runners, although my tires got worn out very fast towards the end of the stint. Then, when Andrea was at the wheel, we had this misfiring problem. It’s probably the alternator that provoked it.
The car stopped twice and by the time Andrea could reset everything, two minutes in total were lost. If you take those out of the gaps at the end of the race, it would have been a second place… It’s really a pity, because in the final stint we were again on excellent lap times and still able to take fourth.”
