Is it still possible to stop Audi ace Jamie Green? This question will be answered from 26th to 28th June when DTM contests its third race weekend of the 2015 season in Nuremberg. For many drivers and fans, the race meeting at the Norisring represents the season highlight. The just 2.3-kilometre short street circuit around the big stone grandstands on the ‘Zeppelinfeld’ provides the spectators maximum entertainment and forces the drivers to take themselves and their cars to their very limit. They are fighting for every millimetre of tarmac and so, enthralling race action is guaranteed. And due to the multifaceted top-class support programme, the visitors also will be thrilled when the DTM cars aren’t in action.

Three wins in four races – Jamie Green currently is in outstanding shape. The Briton (75 points) already holds a small lead in the drivers’ championship, with the gap on fellow Audi drivers Mattias Ekström and Edoardo Mortara (both 58) amounting to 17 points. On the other hand, there still are 14 races to be contested and the battle for the title is far from being over. In the two races in Nuremberg alone, a total of 50 points can be scored.

“In DTM, small details use to be crucial,” says Germany’s DTM legend Hans-Joachim Stuck. “The racing is extremely close and things can go downhill as quickly as they went uphill – and even more so at the Norisring. Here, virtually everybody can make it to the podium.” Despite the current Audi dominance, predicting the result of the two qualifying sessions (Saturday, 27th June, 13:25 to 13:45hrs CEST [12:25hrs to 12:45hrs BST] / Sunday 28th June, 11:40 to 12:00hrs CEST) and races (Saturday 27th June, from 16.45hrs CEST / Sunday, 28th June, from 15:15hrs CEST) is absolutely impossible.

The Nuremberg weekend will be particularly special for the two local heroes on the grid, Maximilian Götz (Mercedes-Benz) and reigning champion Marco Wittmann (BMW). “The Norisring makes for a very special atmosphere and in addition, a lot of my friends and my family will be on site,” says DTM rookie Götz who would love to score his first DTM points in his home event. And Wittmann stresses: “The Norisring is my home circuit. I already attended the Norisring races as a little boy. Most definitely an absolute highlights.”

The support programme also features numerous highlights: after the Saturday race, the German band Guano Apes will rock the crowds on the ‘DTM Show Stage’ and on Sunday, Leslie Clio will entertain the visitors with her modern soul-pop. A special on-track eye-catcher will be the Formula Vau that will make its Norisring comeback with a big number of historic single-seaters 50 years after its debut in Nuremberg. Furthermore, the FIA Formula 3 European Championship, the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany and the Audi Sport TT Cup also will battle for championship points.

Those how haven’t got the chance of attending the Norisring meeting live on site nonetheless will have the chance of following the race action in Nuremberg. DTM’s German TV partner, ARD, covers both Norisring races live – on Saturday, 27th June, from 16:30hrs CEST (15:30hrs BST) and on Sunday, 28th June, from 15:00hrs CEST. Furthermore, sportschau.de and DTM.com will stream the qualifying sessions live. And live ticker, live timing as well as live onboard cameras in the DTM cars will provide the fans with additional interesting information on the Norisring race action.

The DTM weekend at the Norisring will begin on Friday, 26th June. Please find the schedule and everything else worth to know around the three-day event here.
