Peter Dumbreck the drove Opel Vectra GTS V8 to fourth place in the super pole qualifying of the sixth round of the DTM at the Nürburgring. As at Lausitz, the Scot (OPC Team Phoenix) was the best Vectra driver. Teammate Marcel Fässler took sixth place, 13 hundredths of a second behind him.
Timo Scheider (OPC Team Holzer) reached the individually timed driving with the fifth best time in qualifying, for the sixth time in the DTM, and finished the super pole seventh. So an Opel starts from the second row for the fourth time this season.
Volker Strycek, Opel motor sport chief:
With a Vectra GTS V8 starting from rows two, three and four, this has given us a good crew result. For the second time Peter is the best Opel driver, Marcel made his best personal result so far this season and Timo successfully continued his convincing performances to be in each super pole session. Congratulations to all three drivers for their achievements."
Peter Dumbreck (OPC Team Phoenix) 1:24.178, 4th
"I got faster in each of the three laps I took in qualifying. In the super pole round I over-braked in the first corner, otherwise it could have been even better. Nevertheless, it was my fastest time of the weekend."
Marcel Fässler (OPC Team Phoenix) 1:24.307, 6th
"My second of three laps in qualifying was the best one. The car feels very good, my first two sectors in the super pole were great and I'm pleased about my season's best result in qualifying."
Timo Scheider (OPC Team Holzer) 1:24.419, 7th
"After a somewhat unfortunate weekend so far, my team -- despite missing training time in the morning -- prepared a very good car. In the super pole I overdid it a bit, otherwise a better grid position would have been possible."
Laurent Aiello (OPC Team Phoenix) 1:24.349, 12th
"I'm disappointed that we didn't make it into the super pole qualifying. We must try and make up time in the race that was missing in training."
Heinz-Harald Frentzen (OPC Team Holzer) 1:24.710, 15th
"It was difficult for us to find a balance with which I was happy. Now we must find a good race set up and appropriate strategy."
Manuel Reuter (OPC Team Holzer) 1:24.888, 16th
"After my first approach we made a small change to the car but after the second attempt we knew that we had not gone in the right direction."
Jeroen Bleekemolen (OPC Euroteam) 1:25.359, 18th
"I m happy because I left three year-old cars behind me. The car is very good and our successful tuning lets me hope for a good race result."
