The track: The Norisring is the only temporary street circuit on the DTM calendar. On the straight, the cars are up to 260 kph fast, however, approaching the tight corners the drivers have to brake really hard. The speed at the Grundig hairpin is about 45 kph, at the Esses approximately 100 kph, and at the Dutzendteich hairpin about 55 kph.

In the new DTM's five races at the Norisring, Mercedes-Benz was the most successful brand with three victories. Audi and Opel each won once.

Norbert Haug, Vice President Mercedes-Benz Motorsport:

"The Nuremberg event is very prestigious for every DTM participant. Never before the organisers sold more tickets than this year, therefore we expect a record crowd. The fights on the track will be closer than ever and I would not be surprised if the entire field will be within three quarters of a second in qualifying."

Christijan Albers:

"The season's first four races have been really tough; however, I expect even more to come at the Norisring. For 72 laps in usually high ambient temperatures we change constantly between accelerating and braking. Therefore, both cars and drivers have to be in really good shape."

Bernd Schneider Defending champion, Vodafone AMG-Mercedes, is sixth overall with ten points:

"I aim to close the gap behind the leaders, but this will be difficult especially at the Norisring. Last years' races have shown that the field is very close here."
