Aiello, Abt, Reuter and co. preparing for the new season with test sessions
With numerous test sessions, the DTM-teams are preparing for the new season -- the countdown for the season opener at Hockenheim, April 27, is running. With its new Abt-Audi TT-R, Abt Sportsline spent five days in Jerez in Spain. "It was an excellent start in very good conditions. Things can hardly be better with a new car," champion Laurent Aiello summed up. "The new TT-R can be driven very precisely."
Opel tested with three Opel Astra V8 Coupés in Vallelunga/Italy, February 19 till 21. There, Peter Dumbreck, Alain Menu, Manuel Reuter, Timo Scheider and Joachim Winkelhock drove. Mercedes-Benz is also running an extensive test programme, with the most recent session taking place at the Hockenheimring Baden-Württemberg from February 18 till 21.
Abt-team wins "DTM on ice"-tournament in front of home crowd in Kempten
Abt Sportsline won the second "DTM on ice" ice-hockey tournament in Kempten. In the preliminary round, the team led by Christian Abt won already and then defeated the Opel-team 2-1 in an exciting final match. Plenty of action also in the game for third place. The journalists' team "DTM Allstars" finally had the advantage over defending champions Mercedes-Benz in the game-deciding penalties.
Third channels show the action -- DTM-qualifying live on WDR and HR
Already last year, the Hessische Rundfunk (HR) showed the DTM-qualifying sessions live. Now, the Westdeutsche Rundfunk (WDR) is joining them, having shown the action delayed so far. Already three weeks before the season opener, HR is starting its "DTM Magazin", to be shown on DTM-free Saturdays at 13.00 h. For April 5 and 12, a review of 2002 is scheduled, with a season preview and a report from the DTM-presentation at the Europa Park planned for April 19. Other third channels are involved as well: the Südwestrundfunk (SWR) will be showing regularly reports from the DTM qualifying sessions on Saturday from 16.00 h onwards, while the Bayerische Rundfunk (BR) will be reporting occasionally.

An attractive combi ticket is been offered for the two rounds each at the Hockenheimring Baden-Württemberg and the Nürburgring. Youngsters under 15 years of age can experience the DTM in the Eifel or Baden twice at 18 Euros only. Adults pay 49.50 Euros for the combi ticket. The ticket from the Silver Star category is valid from Friday to Sunday and includes a grand stand seat, paddock access and a parking place. Combi tickets are only available in pre-sale.
