DTM Debut of Gary Paffett

Gary Paffett will debut in the DTM in the championship's third round at the Nürburgring this weekend. The 22-year-old Englishman won the 2002 German Formula 3 Championship and will start for Keke Rosberg's team Service 24h AMG-Mercedes.

The track: The DTM will start on the 3.627-km long short circuit of the Nürburgring. This track offers several overtaking opportunities, particularly at the end of the front straight, when the drivers brake into the wide right-hander leading to the Mercedes Arena. This corner allows different lines and was the site for exciting manoeuvres already last year.

The DTM at the Nürburgring: The balance among the three brands represented in the DTM is almost even. Out of the new DTM's seven races at the Nürburgring, Mercedes-Benz won three (two with Bernd Schneider, one with Uwe Alzen) whilst Opel's Manuel Reuter and Abt-Audi's Laurent Aiello scored two wins each.

Record attendance: A crowd of 73,000 attended the DTM's last appearance at the Nürburgring in August 2002. This was more than ever before at a touring car race here, including the former DTM.
