Opel qualifying report for the second DTM race
Volker Strycek (Opel motorsport director):
"Again Marcel Fässler was our best driver in qualifying. Row four means a tidy starting position for the race. I am disappointed that neither Manuel Reuter, who missed only by a few thousandths, nor Heinz-Harald Frentzen or Laurent Aiello reached the individually timed laps. Our result is not good enough."
Marcel Fässler (GMAC Team OPC) 1:16.581, 8th:
"My second run in the (first) qualifying was the fastest one. My lap in the super pole was problem free. I think the track got a little faster towards the end, so the later starters got better times. Starting row four is reasonable in these circumstances."
Manuel Reuter (Team OPC) 1:16.945, 15th:
"We improved by about a second in the second run, compared with the first. For the third attempt we made a small change but something produced strong oversteer. It's a pity -- with the second lap we only missed the super pole by a few thousandths."
Heinz-Harald Frentzen (Stern Team OPC) 1:17.103, 17th:
"From the first run to the second I improved by about half a second but that was by far not enough. It's unfortunate that because of this I lost the chance of a better start position for the race."
Laurent Aiello (Team OPC) 1:17.457, 20th:
"I cannot explain why I had such problems when gently applying the brakes. The car jumped on the bumps and therefore the wheels locked again and again. No good times were possible with it like that. Now I must hope for a good developments in the race."
