Juncadella fit to race, Ocon denied DTM debut
Mercedes has announced that Dani Juncadella is fit to race at the DTM season finale at Hockenheim, denying GP3 driver Esteban Ocon his earlier-confirmed debut.
The German manufacturer stated on Friday that Ocon would stand in for an "ill" Juncadella for the weekend.
However, Juncadella has recovered from food poisoning and is now ready to race in the finale.
Ulrich Fritz, Head of Mercedes-AMG DTM, said: “I am relieved to see that Daniel Juncadella has pulled through this episode of food poisoning and is now fit enough to line up for the last race weekend of the season at Hockenheim.
"Special thanks go to our medical department who have given him such superb care.
"I would also like to thank our test and reserve driver Esteban Ocon who was thrown in at the deep end in the first free practice session without any time for preparation and who has done such a great job of standing in for Daniel.”
Ocon took part in the free practice where he finished last among the 24 drivers, 1.6s off pacesetter Jamie Green.
