DTM Hockenheim, Preview: Grand Finale before a Capacity Crowd
Record crowd: Five days before the race, a record 64,000 tickets have been sold in pre-sale. However, for the Northern Grandstand a small amount of tickets are still available at a special price of 20 Euro.
Facts and Figures: Hockenheim has been the venue for 53 DTM and ITC races since 1984. Mercedes-Benz drivers won 20 races at the Motodrom. The last one was Gary Paffett in April.
Norbert Haug, Vice President Mercedes-Benz Motorsport:
"After an exciting season, we are looking forward to a great finale in front of expected packed grandstands. Mattias Ekström and Abt-Audi have already clinched the championship, and the Mercedes drivers will try to beat the new champion. Gary Paffett and Christijan Albers fight for the runner-up position."
"Bernd Schneider and Jean Alesi want to finish the season with a good performance, if possible racing among the front runners, like in the season opener. Our drivers will be supported by about 14,000 Mercedes employees, fans and friends of the company who bought tickets for the Mercedes grandstand and the Motodrom."
"I look forward to Hockenheim. I still remem-ber my first DTM victory here in April. After finishing third at Brno I have a good chance for the runner-up position in the championship; however, I expect a hard fight with Christijan. I'm sure the crowd at the Hockenheimring will see an exciting race and have a lot of fun."
"I'm totally focused on the final race at Hockenheim. I'll do my best to score a good result for our brand in front of the many spectators and particularly the employees and fans on the Mercedes grandstand."
