DTM meets soccer -- Promotion in Berlin on May 29, 2004
Frentzen, Mücke and Pirro kick off in Berlin's Olympic stadium
Former Formula 1 driver and current DTM driver Heinz-Harald Frentzen (Opel) and his DTM colleagues Stefan Mücke (Mercedes-Benz) and Emanuele Pirro (Audi) will take the ball to this year's German cup final in Berlin's Olympic stadium. The event "DTM meets soccer" is the highlight of the DTM promotion on May 29 in the capital.
Following spectacular demonstation drives on the "Street of June 17", the three DTM drivers in original DTM racing cars will drive with a police escort at around 1500 CET to the SONY Centre to visit the cup final party.
At around 1600 CET, they will drive on through the capital to the Olympic stadium, where Heinz-Harald Frentzen, Berliner Stefan Mücke and Emanuele Pirro will park their DTM racing cars in front of the main entrance -- and then sign autographs.
At exactly 1859 CET, local hero Mücke, flanked by Frentzen and Pirro, will drive his 480 horsepower-strong AMG-Mercedes C-Class through the Marathon gate of the Olympic stadium, which is sold out to 75,000 fans. Following a round of interviews with the stadium's announcer, the DTM drivers will carry the ball for kickoff between second league Alemannia Aachen and reigning German champions Werder Bremen.
"I'm really looking forward to it", said Stefan Mücke. "In March my team mate Jean Alesi did the same thing in the Estadio da Luz in Lisbon. The Portuguese spectators went berserk. I'm sure that we'll also be able to thrill the German soccer fans. And maybe even the odd one or two will come to the DTM race on the EuroSpeedway Lausitz a week later." That is where the fourth race of the current DTM season will be staged from June 4-6.
