Renger van der Zande press release
Renger van der Zande delivered a promising performance at Oschersleben this afternoon, running near the front in the first stage of qualifying before a splitter issue hindered his efforts in Q2.
The Dutchman will therefore start tomorrow's race from 13th on the grid, a position from which he can fight for points.
"In Q1, the first part of qualifying, I set the fourth fastest time," said the Mercedes driver. "The car was like a train, I felt really good! However, the splitter broke in Q2 and because there was more rubber on the track everyone improved a lot. So after that, I had to settle for the 13th spot."
"But those sorts of things happen in racing. Tomorrow's race will be very interesting, with a fairly high chance of rain, so we will probably decide the strategy at the last minute. I'm excited. The car feels good, the circuit suits me well, bring it on! "
