DTM poised for Brands Hatch return in 2018
The DTM will return to Brands Hatch next season, with the Kent venue securing an August date to host the German tin-top series, Motorsport.com has learned.
A draft calendar submitted by the ITR to the FIA for approval features a round at Brands Hatch on August 11-12, which would mark the first DTM event in the UK since 2013.
It will be held on the full Grand Prix layout, rather than the Indy circuit that was used from 2006-13.
As reported by Motorsport.com last month, Donington Park had also been in the running to host the DTM's UK return, but it's understood that Brands Hatch was always the ITR's preferred target.
Brands will be one of two new venues on the 2018 calendar alongside Misano, which has been given a date of August 25-26 - giving Italy its first DTM race since Adria's 2010 event.
It was originally thought that the UK round would be given an April date, but its shift to August means that Hockenheim will play host to the 2018 season opener on May 5-6.
The only remaining uncertainty on the calendar concerns the second round at Lausitz on May 19-20, which clashes with the Berlin ePrix - and may therefore end up being moved.
