DTM stars Frentzen, Mücke & Abt go full throttle through the heart of Berlin
On Saturday, May 29, the 470 horsepower-strong DTM racing cars will transform the famous "Street of June 17" in the centre of the German capital into a motorsports arena. Spectators can look forward to a colourful programme of racing action and entertainment at this Berlin promotion. The DTM stars Heinz-Harald Frentzen and Christian Abt as well as local hero Stefan Mücke will do spectacular demonstration runs in their DTM racing cars from Audi, Mercedes-Benz and Opel on the specially built 700 metre-long circuit.
Spectators will be able to win highly attractive prizes. The highlight is a ride in an original DTM racing car which has been kitted out with a passenger seat. Autograph- and interview-sessions with the DTM stars are also on the agenda. The promotion is designed to be in tune with the fourth race of the season, which takes place the following weekend (June 4-6) on the EuroSpeedway Lausitz. The DTM partner series Porsche Carrera Cup, Formula BMW ADAC championship, ADAC VW Polo Cup and MINI Challenge will also be competing with their racing cars.
The grounds will be closed to traffic from 0700 Central European Time and the roughly 1,680 sqm "drivers' camp" will then be set up. The programme for spectators will start at 1000 CET, while there will also be a photoshoot with the DTM racing cars in front of the Brandenburger Gate. The press conference about the following race weekend at the Lausitzring will begin at 1030 CET in the Opel Centre Berlin (shuttle service available). From 1210 onwards it will then become loud on the "Street of June 17" when the spectacular racing action begins.
The promotion on Berlin's history-steeped street will end at 1500. As a crowning finale to the day, police will escort the DTM racers Christian Abt, Heinz-Harald Frentzen and Stefan Mücke in their DTM-V8 cars to the football party in the Sony Centre following the German cup final.
